Yogadog Dog Training provides affordable, and down to earth training for dog owners and their canine companions that’s effective! Most importantly, it is fun for dogs and people! Yogadog trainer Shannon Coppin been working as a dog trainer since 2009 and has had a lifetime of experience in the dog rescue community. She became interested in dog training as a hobby, with her two rescued dogs Holly and Miko, but this quickly became a passion.
In March of 2011, she graduated with honors from the International Career School of Canada, as a certified professional dog trainer. Shannon is also member of the CAPPDT (Canadian Association of Professional Pet Dog Trainers). In addition to this, she completed an intensive obedience program in April of 2011, at the world acclaimed Michael Ellis School in California. She writes regularly on the DGU Dog Training blog site to provide up to date information and links to dog lovers, as well as continues to educate herself on new training methods on an ongoing basis.
In December of 2018, Shannon graduated as a Pro Dog Trainer Certified consultant through the Absolute Dog Academy. In addition she completed a course with honours through Duke University on Animal Psychology in April of 2017: “Dog Emotion and Cognition” and is constantly educating herself on the latest techniques of positive reinforcement training. Presently she is working with a number of therapy and emotional support dogs to best help people train their Canine Good Neighbours using the criteria set out by the Canadian Kennel Club’s CGN testing.
The Yogadog way provides affordable, down to earth, effective training for people and their canine companions, that is doable! Shannon teaches a variety of traditional, as well modern techniques and combine them to help dogs and clients to find a balanced training program that is both humane and effective. The dogs learn impulse control and discipline and the dog owners learn to connect and communicate with their dog using rewards, play and touch, rather than force and punishment. Most importantly, everyone will have fun!
